Privacy policy
- The short version. We keep what you need for your guide to work: your email, the shows you add and how you rate them.
- No ads, no selling your data, no third-party tracking.
- Your public page only exists if you choose a username and leave it public. Notes are always private.
- Delete your account any time in Settings — it’s gone straight away.
This policy explains how My Show Tracker (“we”, “us”) handles your information when you use myshowtracker.com. Questions? Email hello@myshowtracker.com.
What we collect
When you create an account
- Your email address — to sign you in and, if you turn them on, to send alerts.
- Your name and profile photo — only if you sign in with Google, and only what Google shares.
What you add
- The shows you track, their status (watching, watchlist, watched), your thumbs and any notes.
- Your settings: country, streaming services, username, whether your page is public, and email preferences.
- Anything you type into picks (for example, a mood like “something funny”).
Tonight rounds
- The first name you enter and your yes/pass swipes. Rounds and everything in them expire after 3 days. Guests get a cookie so we remember their swipes in that round — no account needed.
Trying it without an account
- Shows you rate before signing up stay in your browser only. We copy them into your account when you sign up, then clear them from the browser.
Technical basics
- To stop abuse we count requests per IP address. We store only a one-way hash of it, and delete the counters within a day.
- Our host keeps standard server logs (like any website) for security and troubleshooting.
What we don’t do
- We don’t show ads or sell, rent or trade your information.
- We don’t use advertising or analytics trackers, and we don’t follow you around other sites.
- We don’t send your email or name to the AI that makes picks.
How we use it
- To run your guide: show what you’re watching, where it streams in your country, and what’s new.
- To make picks that fit your taste.
- To send the alerts you asked for (you can turn email off in Settings).
- To keep the service secure and working, and to answer you when you contact us.
What other people can see
If you pick a username and leave your page public, anyone with the link can see your page at myshowtracker.com/yourname: your display name, photo, the shows you’ve added and your thumbs. Notes are never shown. Switch your page to private in Settings and it disappears.
Your calendar link is private to you. If you share it by mistake, reset it in Settings and the old one stops working. In a Tonight round, the people in that round see your first name and what you matched on.
Who helps us run it
We use a small number of services to run My Show Tracker. They process data for us and only as needed to provide their service:
| Service | What for | What they get |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database and sign-in | Your account and everything in your guide |
| Vercel | Hosting the website | Requests to the site, including IP address |
| “Continue with Google” (optional) | Your sign-in, handled by Google | |
| Anthropic | AI picks | Show titles you’ve rated, your country and services, and the mood you type — not your email or name |
| TMDB and JustWatch | Show info, posters and where-to-watch | Show lookups only — no personal information |
| Resend | Sending alert and sign-in emails | Your email address and the alert content |
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect people from harm. If My Show Tracker is ever sold or merged, your information would move with it under this policy, and we’d tell you first.
Cookies and browser storage
We only use what’s needed for the site to work:
- A sign-in cookie that keeps you logged in.
- A cookie for Tonight guests, so your swipes stick to you in that round.
- Browser storage for small preferences (like grid or list view) and for shows you rate before signing up.
No advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
How long we keep it
- Your account and guide: until you delete them.
- Tonight rounds: 3 days.
- Rate-limit counters: about a day.
- After you delete your account, copies in encrypted backups are overwritten within 30 days.
Your choices and rights
- See and download everything in your guide — Settings → Export CSV.
- Change your details, services, public page and email alerts in Settings.
- Delete your account and all your shows — Settings → Delete account. It’s immediate and can’t be undone.
Depending on where you live (for example the UK, EU or California), you may have extra rights, such as asking what we hold about you or objecting to how we use it. Email hello@myshowtracker.com and we’ll help — we’ll never charge you or treat you differently for asking.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Each person can only read and change their own guide — the database enforces this, not just the app. No system is perfect, so if you notice anything off, please tell us at hello@myshowtracker.com.
Where your data lives
Our providers may store and process data in the United States and other countries. When data moves between countries, we rely on our providers’ standard safeguards.
Children
My Show Tracker isn’t meant for children under 13 (or under 16 where local law requires). If you think a child has made an account, email hello@myshowtracker.com and we’ll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll update the date at the top and let you know in the app or by email before it takes effect.
